ARCOMusic began in 1994 in as a small publisher of multiple cello music – original tunes, transcriptions and arrangements – and later the company was expanded to include Scottish Fiddling Tunes for the Cello, String Orchestra works, and Jazz. We look forward to bringing out more sheet music in the near future, including a new division for Early Music from Medieval to The Renaissance to Baroque.
Our Gifts for Musicians section was introduced at the 2005 American String Teacher’s Association Conference in Reno, Nevada. Since then, we’ve experienced much growth of this line of product. Although it’s considered a niche, it’s your niche and our niche. Finding good gifts for musicians has always been a challenge. Search no more, we’re here to serve you.
Look for Posters we’ll be offering soon in the Gifts section. People have been clamoring for them ever since we started the Gifts for Musicians line. The Posters will be educational, and there’ll be some funny ones, too — something for everyone! We’ll offer them in two sizes— everyone loves having choices, right?
Please email us if you think of something we should be offering that you don’t see here. We’re all ears!
Chase Morrison – Cellist and Composer
Chase Morrison began her musical studies in Boston with piano and by age eight was playing the cello. She debuted as a baroque player at age twelve with harpsichordist Fernando Valenti. Her music studies took place at New England Conservatory, Boston University, at Wellesley College, where she received a B.A. in music, and at Westminster Choir College from which she received an M.M. in music composition. Her most influential cello teacher was George Neikrug, a Dounis pupil and student of Emmanuel Feuermann. At age 22 she was appointed principal cellist of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (Australia), followed by a co-principal position with the Melbourne Symphony (Australia), after which she moved to New York City, where she founded Panopticon, a non-profit music group performing works of women composers.
Chase Morrison has played on Broadway, in Carnegie & Avery Fisher Halls, toured with Barbra Streisand and Joni Mitchell, and has recorded with Grammy artist Paula Cole. As a composer, her works have found homes onstage at Symphony Space in New York, with Cornell University's Women's Choir, and at Westminster Choir College.
